Kids Playing Princess

Richmond is the only city of its size in the country that doesn't have its own children's hospital.

Because there is no children’s hospital, health care for children in this area is underserved significantly, fragmented and less than optimal in terms of quality.

  • The population at 250 miles around Richmond is approximately 37 million people, 25% of which is under the age of 19. Interestingly, the density is greater than that of Atlanta or Charlotte. Yet we do NOT have a children’s Hospital. See statistical data for Richmond.

  • The facility north of Richmond called “The Children’s Hospital” is a 36 bed inpatient facility that specializes in pediatric long-term care, outpatient services in areas that include Children’s Feeding Program, Dental Care, Multidisciplinary Programs, and Outpatient Rehabilitation. Even though it is a much needed facility, it is NOT a Children’s Hospital. There is NO emergency room, Pediatric ICU, ambulatory care and they lack the numerous services offered by a full service Children’s Hospital.

  • Community Pride

Philanthropy and community pride are major factors in the success of children’s hospitals.

Freestanding children’s hospitals raise millions of dollars each year to support growth and programs that benefit the entire community. We are planning an on-going fund raising, marketing and branding campaigns to start as soon as construction begins.

    Our Mission

Sabian’s Hope Foundation is a foundation formed to secure funding for, and to raise funds to build and support a free-standing, cutting-edge, eco-friendly and compassionate children’s hospital and medical research facility that will serve the central Virginia area, as well children who need treatment from around the country and the world. Sabian’s Hope Foundation will also manage and direct the construction and administration of the facility upon completion and will continue fundraising to ensure future growth. The mission of Sabian’s Hope Foundation is to work to build,  manage and direct this dynamic children’s medical health and research facility to better the medical resources of children in need, and to support the needs of their families.  We are Working To Make Children’s Once Upon A Times… Into Healthy, Happily Ever Afters.

    Our Goals

Some of the goals Sabian's Hope has for our children are:

    • To provide the tertiary inpatient care needed by the sickest of children in the Richmond and Central Virginia areas and for children from around the world.
    • To improve the coordination of care and communication among pediatric providers in the Richmond and Central Virginia areas.
    • To enhance the ability to recruit and to retain the best in pediatric care and research from around the world here in the Richmond Area.
    • To provide a medical safety net for children who are under-insured or who have no insurance.
    • To strengthen and to support the best pediatric education and research.
